Drawn Match in Rain-Interrupted Game - Sat 14th June 2008

Leaders Pontarddulais had to settle for a draw in their rain-interrupted match at Ynysygerwn.
Openers Gareth Davies and Kieran Howells shared in an opening stand of 114, each scoring 51 as the Neath Valley side posted a score of 149-4 in a match reduced to 34 overs.
Skipper Matthew Carey (50) and Stuart Evans (41) led the chase for runs but they were pegged back by young Tom Davies (4-45), assisted by Jonathan Hubschmid (3-57), the innings closing on 145-7.


Harris Daves Day - Sat 7th June 2008

After losing their first five wickets with just 42 runs on the board, Glamorgan’s James Harris rescued leaders Pontarddulais against Swansea in Division One of the Andrew Knox Limited South Wales Association. Harris smashed one six and seven fours in his 84 not out off 100 balls, and helped Pontarddulais reach a respectable 189-8.

The Glamorgan ace was involved in two half-century partnerships, sharing a six-wicket stand of 63 with Daniel Roberts, 27, and another of 59 for the seventh wicket with Carl Robert, 25. Simon James claimed 4-41.


Bont beat Second-Placed Ammanford - Sat 31st May 2008

Glamorgan all-rounder James Harris produced an inspired spell of bowling, claiming 4-27 in 11.4 overs, two of which were maidens, as Ammanford were tumbled out for 116 by leaders Pontarddulais in the big game in Division One. Daniel Roberts returned figures of 4-26.

Second-placed Ammanford lost their first couple of wickets with only 18 runs on the board, before Rhydian Harris (37) and Steffan Jenkins (25) staged a mini-revival when putting on 44 runs for the third wicket.


Pontarddulais Set Pace at the Top - Sat 24th May 2008

DEFENDING champions Pontarddulais are setting a hot pace at the top of the table in Division One of the Andrew Knox Limited South Wales Association, and made it four wins out of four when crushing Briton Ferry Steel by 10 wickets in the latest round of matches.

After bowling Steel out for 68, openers Daniel Roberts (36 no) and Ashley Pass (30 no) knocked off the runs in the 13th over.

Only Rhun Wilson (32) and Justin Hughes (12) managed double figures for Steel, while the rest of the batsmen crumbled against the bowling of Barry Lloyd, who took 3-4 in 3.4 overs, Carl Roberts (3-13) and Gary Arrowsmith (3-21).


Arrowsmith is no Target- Sat 17th May 2008

Pontarddulais recorded their third consecutive win to go clear at the top of the South Wales Cricket Antur Insurance Division One championship following their convincing eight-wicket success away to Llangennech.

Accurate bowling from left-arm spinner Carl Roberts (6-27), assisted at the other end by Gary Arrowsmith (1-3) , who conceded only three runs off 10 overs, helped to dismiss the home team for a disappointing 129. Arrowsmith (46no), Stuart Evans (41) and skipper Matthew Carey (33) all made useful contributions in their reply of 131-2.
